Musicology

A lot of what I was learning in the college it just wasn't very interesting. Music is meaningful and powerful but to read stuff about how you know to talk about this piece in 1751 or well that would have been a great piece in 1741 or 1742 doesn't tell you anything. How does what's going on in society and culture and history register in this piece? It was hard to get away from an individual centric and composer worship sort of project.
