I think most people around the West have been beaten down and kind of our pessimists on these questions, you know, in general. On privacy, I think that there's been a surrender, just a total public surrender on that. And this basically gives every little country, anyone who wants their own little NSA at a bargain price. That is just absolutely, when make you look like a crazy person just a few years ago, it should become kind of the norm.
Danny and Derek welcome Rose Reid and Nando Vila, co-hosts of the new podcast Shoot the Messenger: Espionage, Murder & Pegasus Spyware. They discuss mass surveillance, (the totally legal) Pegasus spyware, how the grisly murder of Jamal Khashoggi fits into this, the vulnerability of journalists, and more.
