The Importance of Repealing War Authorizations

Sen. Rand Paul: We have two war authorizations against a nation that just like last week Secretary Austin visited had a really productive set of meetings in press conference with Prime Minister Al-Sidani. Three presidents, actually four presidents Bush, Obama, Trump and Biden have used the 9-11 authorization which is short, open-ended,. no clear definition of the enemy, no temporal limitation. Terror groups that may have hostile intent toward the United States but don't even exist at the time of 9-11 need to be able to get their hands on this authority. The Iraq authorization has outlived its life; it can be an occasion for abuse.
