The london stock exchange is not doing that well at the moment, relative to other listings. The UK has done better than much of europe a yno, we're somewhere in between and i don't think there is any simple answer. Governments have to find ways to encourage investment in areas where they feel there could be enormous payoffs to the rest of society from success. Climate change being the obvious one.
