The Importance of Staying With God

Running into a part of the Scripture, not recognizing the God that you're seeing on the page, it's an invitation to retreat or to go deeper. Peter is essentially saying, Jesus, what you're saying is a hard teaching. It's not making any more sense to me than it is for all those who walked away. And so I'm staying with you even if I don't understand the words that are coming from your mouth right now. The offense turned to beauty, but only those who stayed got to know the revelation on the other side of the disorientation.
