In practice, when you really want a full description of the theory, you start with the c f t and you derive the quantum gravity side from it as an emergent holographic phenomenon. Because the quanto gravity side has one more dimension of space time than the a conformal field theory side does. And i'm not even sure that the gravity side by itself has a full rigorous description. So i'm not quite sure this really is a duality. I don't see any possible way that you could get quanti mechanics to emerge from space time. Space time is classical. You're not going to get quanta Mechanics to emerge from that, as far as i could tell. That
Welcome to the May 2022 Ask Me Anything episode of Mindscape! These monthly excursions are funded by Patreon supporters (who are also the ones asking the questions). I take the large number of questions asked by Patreons, whittle them down to a more manageable size — based primarily on whether I have anything interesting to say about them, not whether the questions themselves are good — and sometimes group them together if they are about a similar topic. Enjoy!
