Every TV streaming service has regressed back to like the Tom Minx, where literally every episode ends on some kind of cliffhanger. Adorno argues that identification in the culture industry is so strong that even when a film has an admirable artistic vision, people are conditioned to enjoy it through this sort of cheap identification with characters on screen. My favorite example of this is right wingers who watch for Hoban Starship Troopers and just uncritically side with humanity. Like they think it supports their politics.
