We pay special attention to evidence that supports our beliefs and ignore evidence that goes against them. Another reason we believe in superstitions is something called confirmation bias. Dad, your brain might think, he i hit a home run in this pink shirt. Maybe pink is my lucky color. I'll wear pink every i compete. And next thing you know, you've got a superstition.
