The United States Is in a Pre-Eminent Position
The soviet union wants to promote national liberation. The united states wants the penetration of the free market into, through the free market, to all these other countries. Americans want ne lonialism. The americans want neo colonialism. Britain controls malaya. They set the terms of trade. It's going to be more expensive to get that rubber than perhaps if it was an independent country and you could deal with them in a different way. And it drives up the costs for the united states. Capitalists, they can only do but so much.
