The Importance of Flood Irrigation

Arizona is famous for its topsoil. Not anymore, it's not... Well, the reason is because the Colorado river stole it. And so when settlers, white settlers moved into Southern California and realized all of a sudden this was incredible soil they started to dig irrigation channels. They weren't using sprinklers in other words, they would open up the irrigation canals, the flood the land, and then the water would evaporate.
