The Politics of Meritocracy

Michael Young coined the term meritocracy to characterize kind of dystopia where people feel that their wealth is entirely self deserved. It's being used today by, yeah, as you say, people like Elizabeth Warren as a utopia. The point of meritocracy is again to render obscure the distribution by naturalizing it by placing it in a category that is beyond the realm of political discussion or debate.
