The New Poet Laureate
Aida Limon is the new poet laureate of Washington, D.C. She will serve a two-year term and earns only $60,000 per year. The position was created in 1985 but had been more of a librarian position before that. Ada Le Mans' signature project is working on a partnership with the National Park Service to present poems in national parks. Her poem will be engraved on NASA's spacecraft traveling 1.8 billion miles to explore Jupiter's moon Europa.
