The Shooting Star in Townsville
Townsville's traditional indigenous owners, the bindle and wolga recouper people, were the first to inhabit the region. An important symbol for the bindle people is the shooting star. They believe that the direction the shooting star falls, there is either danger coming, or someone from that direction is in need of help or in danger. Gabentina arrived in townsville on the first day of a record hot spell. That day would mark the first of 114 days, almost four months, of temperatures over 30 degrees solsius, or 80 degrees fahrenheit. Perfect weather for the diving ahead.
