China's Hypersonic Missile Program: A Threat to US Fleet?
China's hypersonic missiles are designed to travel so fast as to avoid detection or interception. These missiles are touted by China to be carrier killers, and can do up to $40 billion of damage if it sinks an aircraft carrier with a deck full of planes. The real game changer was the inventory of ballistic missiles that China created years ago - they already go all the way out to Guam. So any US carrier that attempted to come close to Taiwan in the event of a war is sitting ducked for Chinese anti-ship ballistic missiles.
