Monastics, You See the World

Like many monastics, you are a world traveller. I think that if we looked through a the history of spirituality, for instance, we would find that some of our most contemplative people have been our most active. The two go together unless they are narcisistically being cultivated for their own sake only. So actually, our action always comes out of the contemplative message or or meaning of our lives. They aren't separated. You can't hear the cry of the poor in prayer five times a day and not somehow or other become sensitized to the needs of the poor.
