The General Epistles of the New Testament

In the New Testament, we can begin to hear the first waves of Christianity break on the pagan world. By the time the general epistles that we'll look at in this show were written, the apostles were gone. These books show traces of some of Christianity's earliest evolutions and engagements with Greek religion and philosophy. We can use these letters to discuss why various Christ-centered worship practices expanded in the Mediterranean world throughout the first three centuries.
