Is God Necessary for Morality?

In the Arena: The Debates and Lectures of William Lane Craig

CHAPTER

The Outh Pro Argument Is a False Dilemma

Doctor cra says there is no basis on atheism for thinking that human beings have objective moral value, objective moral duties or moral accountability. She has not dealt with my third alternative to the outhpro argument. The good is neither something arbitrarily invented by god, nor something to which god is subservient. Rather, the good just is the nature of god himself, and expresses itself toward us in the form of his divine commands. This provides a logically coherent basis for objective moral values, duties and moral accountability. We'll reduce the time down to eight minutes, and we'll go back to doctor cra again this evening.
