Yaman: You can draw a direct line from the decisions of the united states government, as well as other donors, to the extreme distress that the afghan population is now in. So what can the united states and other countries who support afghanistan do to save this country? Yaman: There are some things that can be done short term. One is provide just straight out humanitarian relief. But it's not enough. Emergency relief does not ensure that public services continue to function. For that, there needs to be a broader range of types of aid provided.
