The Power of Emotions to Affect Historical Change
I think if you zoom out I think what's interesting is to think about the power and agency of emotions to do things in the world. It's very easy to be like oh everyone was really stupid and superstitious but this is also the period of the scientific revolution as well as the Reformation. You cannot understand the witch craze if you don't take seriously the power of fear or historical power of fantasy, he says. We need to understand that to understand human action and therefore why historical change occurs so I think it's more a call to arms to take that seriously.
