The History of Hurricanes

The first real hurricane protection levees were built following a hurricane that hit Louisiana and Mississippi in 1915, killing hundreds of people. The Gulf was very warm that year, it intensified the storm and it came barreling in towards New Orleans. This is a storm surge and compounding that you have winds making giant waves.
