There are a couple of types of fabric where you can get away with leaving the seams nished. Most patterns have a built in seam allowance of five eighths of an inch. marking your seam allowance with washy tape will make it easier to sew in the right spot. Pressing is actually such a big part of sewing because it helps you so accurately sets the seams and keeps the seam allowances in the right place.
