The Connection Between Morality and Morality

Hermes points out that sparta teaches their children wildely different moral lessons. This causes socrates to begin teasing apart the differences between athens and sparta. He arrives at the conclusion that the difference between these two societies is all about endless critical debate, but which sparta prohibits. Since the spartans never seek improvement it is not surprising that they never find it. We, in contrast, have sought it by constantly criticising and debating and trying to correct our ideas and behavior. And thereby we are well placed to learn more in the future.
