The movie money ball helps the term analytics become more main stream. It's really a testament to the intrusion of financial reasoning into sports. The terms that we're starting to see creep into sports discourse are financial in nature. So i don't know if it's data science infiltration just yet, but just as the finances, the big bank started to leverage statistics and data modelling and data science, indeed, sports have reached that point.
