The Weary Blues

Hugely influential music was to Hughes in this respect. Music that he was listening to was composed by black people, performed by black people. Both blues and jaz were unapologetic about it. And hughes followed that lead. Here's a poem called the weary blues from 19 25. I ain't happy no more, and i wish that i had died. He slept like a rock, or a man that's dead. That's what life is hard. There's always sleep. When you fall into that kind of deep and heavy solace, you get there.
