How to Reverse Engineering Hardware

I've always been interested in programming and computers, but maybe not necessarily RGB. My username, Calc programmer one comes from. I basically learned a program in freshman year of high school by looking at code on my calculator during classmy TI 84. But then I went into like learn C plus plus took some courses and I went into college for computer engineering. And that got me into microcontrollers. That's the ultimate goal is reverse engineering can be interesting, but it shouldn't be necessary. So, have you ever killed any hardware, tried to mess around like this? Actually, no, surprisingly not. No, I have breaks and things, but I haven't like permanently damaged hardware
