The Leftists Are the Best Students of Left Wing Theory

Tovertley says that the biggest problem is american civilians are too concerned with refrigerators and television to assume the great burden of maintaining global hegemany. And often it's political conservatives who are the best students of left wing theory precisely because they appreciate that left us have a good understanding of how it is that power operates. The difference is they don't want to be critical of it. They want to mobilize those intellectual and theoretical resources in order to maintain systems of hegemony which will somehow also eventually be vindicated by the people at the bottom. It's a very insidious kind of way of reasoning about things that's proven very, very beneficial to conservative movements throughout history.
