Are Parents Agents of Gender Segregation?

We live in a hyper-segregated economy made up of two separate and unequal workflows. We were able to study this by developing a data-driven algorithm that classifies each occupation into either the female-type or male-type sector. Many occupations, like CEO, have long been and remain largely closed to women. It's plausible that familial processes lie behind the trend in gender segregation because parents play such an important role in training their children.
