David Gergen: The language surrounding describing this, I find insufficient to the task because there are people who are just not interested in the project of anything other than their own project. And therefore, they're not even operating with the same sets of reason and exchange of ideas and argumentation that are required for the business of legislating no matter what it is. So yeah, this is a sign of all the awfulness that's going to come on to anything that's difficult.
