The Origins of Bipedalism

Bipedalism appears to begin in a fairly forested habitat, so there must be an explanation. Walking by petale is not more efficient than walking quadrupetely unless you do it in a very specific way with very extended hind limbs. So maybe if some of those things that make it made it slice slightly more cost effective, and it became more cost effective to move on two feet instead of four feet, maybe that's an evolutionary reason for bipedalism.
