I think the craziest conspiracy theory is that the elites were testing a control mechanism. There's no evidence of it anywhere. I honestly think everybody was trying to do a good job in the pandemic. When somebody changes your general statement into a weird absolute, that's always cognitive dissonance. It just means you didn't like the point and there are no absolutes.
