E kitch childs was an American clinical psychologist and lesbian activist. She suffered from a lot of physical and emotional pain during her life, which i think really informed her treatment of other people. It is so unbelievably difficult to find any information from this time period about black women's experiences. We know that there were black women in psychiatric institutions who were being abused, but we don't have their stories.
