The Invasion of Memphis
Mac's father was still working as a spy when he was outed in 1969. Mac says the invaders threw their explosives through some windows, but compared to other US cities, to him, the violence in Memphis seemed contained. Five days later, the funeral of Dr Martin Luther King Jr took place in Atlanta,. Alongside the rage, there was a deep sense of loss. In Memphis, a silent march in honor of Dr King was attended by tens of thousands. Within a week, a deal was reached with the city council to improve conditions for the sanitation workers.
