Amitai Bhatnagar: Trials are brutal to do. They require a huge HR infrastructure of research coordinators, long informed consent forms and it takes longer to recruit than you anticipate. So is there a better way? Can we embed the trial in routine care where we don't have research coordinators in the field but at the participating sites, there's no coordinators?, he asks. "Can we also finally use existing healthcare data source to record all the outcomes that matter most to patients and providers?" He says this approach could be very scalable too and sustainable if successful.
