No Ivy Is Just Clothes
When clothing is understandable, it references a world and a set of meanings. I think for a long time, we have been dressing in reference to one particular world. Flat front chinos is just clothes. A Oxford button down is just a dress shirt. It's just what people wear. This is why no one calls it ivy. No one really uses the word preppy. Now these clothes are mostly called classics or basics.
