The Hodgekiss Gun Is a Machine Gun
In 1897, a former state senator in Arkansas reportedly said that he saw an airship where he was told by the pilot that the craft was bound for Cuba to use its hodgekiss gun to kill Spaniards. There's a lot of eyewitnesses and, or at least they say that there's a lots of eyewitnesses. The 20th century UFO flap can't be disentangled from the Cold War. People are going to view these things through the prism of the geopolitics of their time.
