Theodosius and Gildo's Secrets

Gildo was of Berber descent and had been a close associate of the Theodosian family. He served the elder Theodosius loyally during the campaign against Fermis. In mid-397 Gildo allowed himself to be swayed by Eutropius, and he pledged his loyalty to Arcadius and the court of Constantinople.
