The Hell Language
The word hell is Gehenna in Greek and it was a very real place in Jesus' day to the south of Jerusalem. If your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to inter-life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell. The word eternal there isn't like a platonic word, it doesn't mean time without end. But don't import Dante's vivid imagery and poetry of hell in here at all. That's not good biblical theology.
