The Importance of Temple Purity
In Leviticus 21, Moses tells the priests that no one shall defile himself for a dead person among his people except for his relatives who are nearest to him. The law isn't something that disqualifies the priests from inheriting eternal life or from even functioning as a priest permanently It would basically prohibit him from performing his duties at the temple complex for a short period. But Jesus specifically mentions in verse 31 as Jesus tells the parable That he is going down on the road from Jerusalem to Jericho and so it's not temple purity that's in view there either.
