Did Neandatos Need More Energy Than an Average Human?

Neandatos may have needed between five and ten per cent more energy to run their bodies than an average human. Depending on the environment they were living in, this could be as much as three thousand calories a day. Being pregnant and breast feeding are energetically very expensive just for women now. So there's all these diffeent factors you have to sort of consider but over all, they probably did need more fuel than an equivalent homesapians in any given environen.
