Is There a Theory of Mind for Robots?
The ultimate goal is to have a theory of mind for all robots. And what that means is we want to endow any robot with the capacity to put themselves in the seat of the pants of somebody else. This is a perfectly natural capacity for humans, right? So any human can kind of think about what they might be thinking or what their goals might be and how they might be reacting to what they're seeing. But this is really, really hard for robots to do. It's easy to say, but this is computationally a really difficult thing to do.
