The Insecurity of Richard Nixon
I want to flesh out this Richard Nixon Arthur Burns story just a little bit more and play armchair psychologist here. I don't see insecurity in Nixon, but I do see impatience, frustration and dismissiveness. There's all kinds of evidence from the historical record that Nixon complained about Burns behind his back to Erlichman or other folks. But also Nixon does an infamously conflict-averse. And so it does feel like a relationship that was very, very complicated and certainly not as simple as a lot of folks want to portray a death. Okay.
