Applied history is the study of experience, precedent and problems. It's history as a source of education for political decision-makers. That takes us all the way back to Thucydides in ancient Greece. The Roman Cicero held that history was the teacher of life. John Robert Seeley told his students at Cambridge that History was the school of statesmanship.
