Mud Larking - A Kind of Forage, a Kind of Hobby
Mud larking is a term, i think, coined in the eighteenth and nineteenth century. It's about people who would go and forage for sort of treasure or food,. Anything that they could sell from the mud flats of the thames when the tide went out. In the modern era, obviously people are less scavenging for scraps by which to live, but they are looking more as a hobby. So it's become a kind of hobbyists activity.
