Newton's Gift to Humanity

Newton's discovery was news up to the French who were proud of their baroque rational in Descartes. Voltaire read the word to the educated classes of all of Europe. In his letters on the English written from England, he outlined Newton's world system and philosophy of science. He had attended Newton's funeral and noted with amazement the solemn assembly of figures prominent in government as well as in Zion.
