Melancholia and mourning overlap for Freud through the common thread of narcissism. In love, we find a kind of balance between our ego investments to be loved and our object investments to love. And so when the loved one dies in morning, there is also a kind of mourning of oneself. But I think that it's for Freud, you know, Melacalia depression is the more pathological.
