The Shy Priest Comes Out of the Shadows

The Watergate is actually not the temple. The Watergate is kind of the center of the gate that leads out of the city and it sort of speaks to the centrality of the life of the Israelites. They're not in the temple so it's not the privacy of worship but this is about people aligning their hearts in a very public way. And I think this is even a picture of pointing us toward that reality of the new heavens and the new earth where the temple of God is just God's presence everywhere.
