The Importance of Imagination in History
Every single word of dialogue in the book is taken from another account and is there. There's nothing within quotation marks that hasn't come directly out of a source. The important thing is not to eliminate the imagination, but to make it obvious when you're using it as a historian. That's, I think, how history books should be written. This is what we should be doing, surely.
