Introduction

Julius Caesar left us with two books. They're known as in Latin as Comentari, which roughly translates as notes. Is this our main source of information on the Gallic Wars? Absolutely. It's the only contemporary source, apart from some letters of Cicero and other bits and pieces. Others talk about it later, historians who write in Latin and Greek.
