The Importance of Ancient Cargo Shipping

Large cargo ships were not doing itinerant trading. It's what we would call wholesale trade, if you want, bolt commodities. And then it would be dispersed, maybe from a big harbor like the paeus, from there outward. Most traffic, if you'r going to get to the settlements, that's really the key. These settlements are in these fiords and pockets and things like that. Big ships can't get in there. The majority of shipping was still this in ta range of 300 tons, small ships that could navigate and negotiate the risk of the shore line that way.
