Sola was obsessed with returning any favor that he was given, making sure he was never in anyone else's debt. He was prolific in terms of helping friends and putting them in good positions. Sola had a famous epigraph written on his tomb: There never was a better friend nor a worse enemy. And so to me, that's an amazing way to turn something around that could have been kind of an insult.
